Purpose of the role

The Finance Systems team plays a critical role in maximising the firm's investment in the Practice Management System Elite 3E and other Business Systems, by providing system solutions to support firm strategy, operations and new business requirements.  The Systems Analyst role is one of a small team who are a key liaison between Finance Support and training services, Business Analysts, IT Development, Testing team and other Financial Services stakeholders.

Job description

The System Analyst provides responsive and proactive support of second level support investigations, including reproducing issues, analysing data and timely escalation and follow up of issues to vendors or internal technical teams.  The Systems Analyst also provides operational support of key Finance processes including month end and year end and hands on support role support for Client Billing platforms.

The Systems Analyst will also be a key contributor to Finance Systems improvement projects, working to assist Business Analysts and Testing Analysts with business requirements for enhancement or defect fix requests. The role will provide assistance to the Testing team for some changes.  

Your responsibilities include:

  • Play a key role within the Finance Systems and Integrations team in production support and second level investigations of issues occurring in Elite or in Systems integrations
  • Understand the core functions of the Practice Management System (Elite 3e) to assist in troubleshooting issues and recommending actions
  • Develop knowledge of system configuration and security management to ensure solutions maintain data accuracy and system integrity
  • Oversight of month end and year end processing and assist with Year End co-ordination
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Billing process and assist with management and technical support of Client e-Billing platforms
  • Utilise SQL for common queries, in order to assist with troubleshooting
  • Close collaboration with other team members and relevant stakeholders to understand priority of issues and escalate appropriately to conclusion
  • Create and maintain team documentation such as troubleshooting techniques and processes
  • Ability to work in a structured way, utilising standard ITIL processes such as Incident, Major Incident and Change Management
  • System monitoring checks and testing as required

More about you

On your first day, we expect you to have:

  • At least 7 years functional business experience, demonstrating strong working knowledge of related commercial environment
  • Experience with using/supporting Practice Management or similar large Finance systems and related integrations ( Elite 3e or Aderant experience highly regarded)
  • Experience supporting systems and to understand and recommend resolutions to issues
  • Good data query (SQL), analytical and strong troubleshooting skills
  • Operates in a professional and ethical manner
  • Be outcomes focussed, and highly motivated to deliver excellent client service
  • Displays initiative in bringing potential problems and issues to manager’s attention and making recommendations for resolution
  • Shares knowledge and enjoys working as a team player
  • High level understanding of business drivers within a professional services environment

Bonus points for someone who: (e.g.)

  • Familiarity with operations of a Finance team, including month end and year end tasks – highly regarded
  • Has experience with Elite 3e or Aderant
  • Has worked in a law firm or professional services environment
