About us

MinterEllison is one of the Asia Pacific's leading law firms. Established in Sydney in 1827, our firm today operates in Australia, Hong Kong, mainland China, Mongolia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom through a network of integrated and associated offices.

Our culture

At MinterEllison, our people are our brand.  Every day, every person in our firm plays a vital role in helping clients to resolve disputes, close deals, find solutions, grasp opportunities and create value.  We are a friendly and supportive firm that takes pride in our work, our people, our individual and collective achievements, our clients' success, and our strong reputation in the marketplace.

The Intellectual Property team

Our IP lawyers provide sophisticated, practical advice, and skilled handling of complex high-profile litigation.  Our Sydney practice is particularly experienced in working on copyright disputes in the media and entertainment sector.  However, we offer a full service IP practice across all major forms of IP and consumer law across a range of industries, including  biotechnology, pharmaceutical, health care, telco, IT, cosmetics, fmcgs, insurance, energy and mining.

We approach all litigious and commercial matters with a deep understanding of our clients' businesses and the technology involved, along with the practical and legal issues that may arise when seeking to protect IP rights.

Your role

A great opportunity currently exists for an experienced IP litigator, at or near senior associate level, to join MinterEllison in Sydney.  In this role you will work primarily with John Fairbairn, partner, Zeina Milicevic, special counsel, and other senior lawyers in the Intellectual Property team on a broad range of intellectual property matters.  You will be involved in specialist copyright, trade mark and advertising law matters, and will have the opportunity of working on patent matters with Simone Mitchell, partner.

What you need

We welcome applications from experienced lawyers with:

  • Strong technical expertise in copyright and other IP matters, ideally gained in a recognised Australian or international IP practice, including substantial experience in conducting IP litigation;
  • A strong client focus and demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships with peers, clients and industry experts;
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment;
  • Resilience and a commitment to excellence that matches our own; and
  • Pride in your work and who you work for.

Who we are

We embrace flexibility and provide our future leaders with best practice learning and development programs to accelerate and grow their careers.

We value diversity in the workplace and care about ensuring you balance your professional goals with your commitments and interests outside of work, and provide a wide range of social, financial and health benefits to support your wellbeing.
