Our Technology & Data team is one of the most successful practices in Australia and is led by industry experts, with extensive experience across complex, critical technology & communications solutions, and technology disputes. We remain at the forefront of emerging developments in technology and our team of lawyers provide practical solutions to help our clients across a range of projects and challenges.

Due to an exciting growth phase in the firm, we are looking for a talented Associate to join our specialist team.

Job Description

In this role, you will join a high performing team with talented and supportive professionals who will help you learn and challenge you to grow. This Associate level role will see you working directly with a team that has a strong record in advising on a full range of technology and telecommunications matters, for both private sector and government clients. 

You will play a key role in advising on major ICT outsourcing deals, IT development projects, procurement strategies and major supply contracts. 

You will also assist clients with cybersecurity and privacy, as-a-Service and cloud-based offerings, licensing and commercialisation, as well as the ICT and business separation aspects of major M&A deals.  Our Technology & Data practice is sought out by clients around the globe, and members of the team have travelled to Hong Kong, mainland China, the US, the UK, and other parts of Asia and Europe to work on ground-breaking technology transactions.

You will also enjoy working with our Technology Consulting division, ITNewcom, to deliver a seamless legal and consulting offering, designed to help clients optimise their technology spend. ITNewcom has established itself as one of the leading technology advisory, relationship optimisation, and benchmarking firms in the region, and is a fully integrated part of MinterEllison's technology offering.  

More About You

We welcome applications from admitted lawyers who have:

  • Ideally 2-5 years' experience in commercial technology contracting
  • Private practice experience
  • Strong technical drafting and communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate commercial terms and to assist clients with makinge difficult decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships with peers, clients and industry experts
  • A team player attitude and the ability to mentor junior lawyers in the group
  • Resilience and a commitment to provide exceptional levels of service to our local and international client base.
