Your role

MinterEllison currently has scope to bring on junior lawyers with a keen interest in the personal injury field, specifically in the Victorian WorkCover scheme to join their Melbourne team. In our Melbourne office, our team is appointed to WorkCover Victoria's select panel of lawyers and provides expert legal advice to WorkCover, its agents and employers in all aspects of workers' compensation, as well as managing substantial portfolios of work for a variety of self-insured employers under both the Victorian and the Commonwealth workers' compensation schemes.

You will provide advice on statutory benefits, impairment benefit claims, common law claims, risk management and injury prevention, self-insured entry and compliance, common law investigations, portfolio management, occupational health and safety and industrial law issues and recovery action against third parties.

  • Someone who has commenced or completed post legal training;
  • You will have excellent attention to detail and be able to meet tight deadlines;

Our depth of local and national experience is clearly demonstrated by our national workers' compensation team. In our Melbourne office, our team is appointed to WorkSafe Victoria's select panel of lawyers and provides expert legal advice to WorkSafe, its agents and employers in all aspects of workers' compensation, as well as managing substantial portfolios of work for a variety of self-insured employers under both the Victorian and the Commonwealth workers' compensation schemes.

We are currently looking for an experienced lawyer ( Senior Associate level) with experience in the personal injuries field, preferably the Victorian workers' compensation scheme.

You will provide advice on statutory benefits, impairment benefit claims, common law claims, risk management and injury prevention, self-insured entry and compliance, common law investigations, portfolio management, occupational health and safety and industrial law issues and recovery action against third parties.

What we are looking for

  • A passionate and commercially astute workers' compensation lawyer with a genuine interest in building a successful, long term career in insurance law;
  • Someone with sound client and file management skills who understands the importance of providing technically excellent, advice;
  • A practitioner with the maturity and self-motivation to be responsible for the day to day management of claim files with the assistance of a mentor as appropriate; and
  • A good team player who appreciates the importance of collegiality and collaboration.
