Our Legal Service Operations team

MinterEllison’s Legal Service Operations team is focussed on utilising people expertise, refined business processes and innovative digital platforms and automation to facilitate the delivery of all our client-facing legal services across the business. As a key part of our broader legal operations function, this team works closely with our legal professionals and external service providers to ensure that we adopt practices that have a positive impact on our Firm’s profitability and also deliver a consistently high-quality experience to our clients.

Purpose of the role

We put the client at the centre of everything we do and partner with them to deliver truly innovative solutions. To support the firm's objective, we are excited to be building out our Legal Project Management (LPM) function and we require a Legal Project Management Advisor role to support that offering. This role will be dedicated to our Disputes, Competition & Insurance (DCI) Line of Business working closely with the Head of Legal Operations in that group to service matters across its practices. The role will also be supported by the centralised function in Legal Service Operations and will work in conjunction with other functions across the group.

More specifically, this role will involve:

  • Supporting and advocating for the application of our LPM methodology to matters across DCI
  • Working closely with Head of Legal Operations, DCI and the Commercial Manager, DCI to provide billable and non-billable LPM support on active matters. This may include:

    • Attending team matter meetings and recording actions to be distributed to the group;
    • Monitoring of matter work tasks to ensure all deliverables to the client are on schedule;
    • Monitoring of matter financials and tracking to budget;
    • Assisting with the update of matter-related reporting for both internal and external use; and
    • Assisting with fee estimates and scoping of matters;
  • Support with analysis regarding patterns of conduct/ financial outcomes including in respect of write offs and other fee outcomes
  • Assisting to drive consistent approaches to fee reporting across the LOB
  • Supporting the upskilling of lawyers across DCI particularly as it relates to the use of the LPM framework
  • Other matter management related tasks as determined by the Head of Legal Operations, DCI

What you need 

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Project management experience in a law firm or in-house environment
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven experience with the practical use of technology for project management
  • Capacity to manage varying levels of tasks - from thinking strategically to troubleshooting detail where needed
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively whilst maintaining focus on internal efficiency
  • Demonstrated time management, judgment, decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Experience in litigious matters desirable
