Our Workplace Team

Our Workplace team advises on the full spectrum of workplace and industrial relations and labour regulation issues, with a particular focus on strategic issues, industrial bargaining and safety as well as individual employment relationships and contracts, workplace policies and procedures, equal opportunity, discrimination and harassment.  Our clients span industries such as infrastructure and construction, resources, media, government, tertiary education and health care.

The Perth Workplace team is a very high performing practice group, led by partners, Kathy Reid (Practice Group Head) and Craig Boyle.  The team currently has 3 Special Counsel, 1 Consultant, 3 Senior Associates, 3 Associates, 2 Lawyers, 2 Graduates and 2 Paralegals.  They are supported by two Executive Assistants.

Your role

A fantastic opportunity exists for a junior Executive Assistant to join our Workplace team in Perth.  This role will be a full time position and would be a valuable opportunity to gain extensive administration experience in the legal industry. We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail, ability to multi task and to work both autonomously and in a busy team environment.

As a key addition to this team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Diary management
  • Answering calls and monitoring emails
  • File management including opening and closing files, electronic and physical filing and scanning
  • Assisting in maintaining client databases
  • Monthly billing and reporting in accordance with specific client requirements
  • Reconciliation of corporate AMEX expenses
  • Assisting with coordination of team and client events
  • General administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, searches, formatting etc
  • Drafting correspondence, document preparation (including the use of precedents) and amendments
  • Arranging meetings with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

    What you need

To be successful in this role, strong organisational skills are essential as well as a high level of initiative, attention to detail, energy and enthusiasm and the ability to follow through.  Ideally, the successful candidate will have 1-2 years' experience working in corporate environment.

In addition to this, you will possess the following attributes:

  • Human Resources and Industrial Relations experience preferable (but not essential)
  • Self-motivated and an ability to work autonomously with minimal direction
  • Strong willingness to learn
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities
  • A strong client focus and demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships with team members, clients (both internal and external) and industry experts
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft application knowledge, particularly Word, Powerpoint and Excel
  • An understanding of billing and financial systems and other software applications (desirable)
  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritise and delegate
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • A proactive approach and demonstrated initiative
  • Flexibility to adapt to different tasks
