The Team

The IT Security Team are responsible in implementing, managing, and operating various cybersecurity capabilities. This will entail discovering and investigating threats, testing and verifying security controls, interacting with other IT teams to respond to threats and taking ownership of project tasks until completion.

Your Role

This role is initially for a 6 month fixed term contract, and will be part of the IT security team. This is an internal facing role and will work on a proactive and consultative basis with other departments such as Talent, Risk, rest of IT, General Counsel etc to further develop our Security Governance and Assurance areas. While the role is not too technical and BAU focussed, you will have a good understanding of security technologies and best practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Update and maintain IT security policy and other related policies such as acceptable usage policy, mobile security policy etc.
  • Lead vendor assessments and assist with ongoing monitoring of supply chain security
  • Respond to client questionnaires and track client requirements and our compliance levels
  • Perform quarterly compliance checks on IT security policies and key controls from ISO27001, CPS234, VPDSF, SSAE16 and ASD Essential 8
  • Assist with creating high quality, executive briefings and monthly reports
  • Assist with creating content for IT Security awareness programs (Email newsletters, Yammer, monthly awareness)
  • Assist teams with creating operating procedures for various security technologies, processes or controls
  • Be up-to-date with information security best practices and industry trends for security solutions and standards
  • In case of an incident or suspected incident, assist team with incident response and coordination activities

More About You

You will have at least 5 years' experience in information systems environment and a background in information technology. You will have a good understanding of security software and platforms, and security principles, standards and procedures. You are motivated and excited to inspire people at all levels of the business to implement and uphold information security best practices and standards.

  • Demonstrated experience in running supplier assessments and making recommendations from the responses
  • Demonstrated experience in running internal IT audits/assessments on policy compliances
  • Proven experience in working with and creating security policies, procedures
  • In depth experience in writing high quality executive reports/briefings
  • Excellent knowledge of information security principles, standards and frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST, SSAE16, CPS 234, ASD essential 8, VPDSF
  • Excellent understanding of the security needs of a professional services organisation and the security threat landscape in the legal sector
  • Must have agile-mindset, incremental delivery over perfection, willingness to try new approaches to a problem

  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills including an good understanding of threats faced by the firm
  • Excellent organisational, time management skills, written/verbal communication skills, attention to detail and natural leadership
  • Must have a strategic focus to ensure that daily activities add commercial value to the business and that non-value activities are minimised or eliminated
