The Team

MinterEllison’s Legal Service Operations team is focussed on utilising people expertise, refined business processes, innovative digital platforms and automation to facilitate the delivery of all our client-facing legal services across the business.  This team works closely with our legal professionals and external service providers to ensure that we adopt practices that have a positive impact on our Firm’s profitability and also deliver a consistently high-quality experience to our clients.

The Legal Service Operations team combines a diverse range of skill sets and platforms requiring a seamless leadership structure to develop a suite of truly integrated solutions. The team is led by Ken Porter and is made up of industry experts with extensive experience across complex, innovative legal process solutions and transitions.

Your Role

The Process Transition Manager (PTM) will play a key role in transformational change within our legal lines of business to ensure consistency in approach and delivery across multiple legal processes.

The role will require strong and significant change management experience to ensure continuous process improvements and related digital implementations are strategically prioritised, well-structured and effectively delivered.  The PTM will ensure the effective implementation of solutions by connecting and working with multiple teams across the firm both in the lines of business and business operations.

The PTM will work closely with the leaders of various functions across the Digital team and other relevant SMEs to develop methodologies to transition legal teams to improved ways of working and co-ordination of training content and processes related to the different work types across the Firm's lines of business. The PTM will collaborate with these other functions to progress the digitisation and onboarding of those legal processes onto appropriate digital tools, including Beacon, our proprietary matter management solution.

In this role you will enhance line of business and business operations capability through understanding the business context and identification of opportunities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading the transformation and evolution of the Process Transition team as a key function within Legal Service Operations and the broader Digital team
  • Providing input into the selection, configuration and implementation of innovative solutions to support the business needs across all areas and functions of the firm
  • Devising and maintaining the transition methodology and framework for the Firm and leading the Transition Working Group or the various forms this function will take for significant legal process transitions
  • Managing the workflow support resources to ensure quality and consistency of delivery
  • Working closely with the Legal SMEs allocated to all relevant legal processes to obtain the required input and deliver the determined outcomes to achieve a successful transition
  • In conjunction with other Digital team leaders:
    • Maintain guidelines for standardised legal processes across all practice areas
    • Ensure consistent adoption of standardised process and automation
    • Co-ordinate the development of training content and processes
    • Identify and escalate change requests that do not comply with guidelines or standardisation principles
    • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder engagement with proactive communications including drafting and delivering status updates and reporting to senior stakeholders and Steering Committees as required
  • Work collaboratively with other teams in the Firm including the Client & Market Growth team and Digital team in preparing tenders, pitches and presentations.

More About You

  • Previous experience working within a similar role, ideally with some legal or professional services experience
  • Team leading and mentoring experience is required
  • Strong ability to lead transformational change and maintain awareness of developments in legal process methodology and best practice solutions across industries, both nationally and internationally
  • Display personal and professional integrity at all times
  • Ability to engage and influence people at all levels and possess strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to manage people and competing priorities and to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to approach projects in a commercial, innovative and strategic manner to deliver the best value
  • Ability to analyse and reason, clearly and logically including in high pressure situations and direct attention to solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to adapt style to suit audience
