Head of Technology & Change Risk - Chief Risk Office

It is imperative that MinterEllison identify and manage risks across the firm, in accordance with our Risk Appetite Statement (‘RAS’) and utilising a framework to manage risk (Risk Management Framework “RMF”). The CRO team facilitates the management of risk at MinterEllison by:

  • Building deeper awareness and understanding of the risks facing the firm and the role each person needs to play in managing those risks through their everyday actions and personal accountabilities;
  • Supporting and enabling a controls environment that ensures accountability for managing risk is appropriately distributed across the firm and that risks are managed in accordance with the Firm's risk appetite; and
  • Supporting the easy navigation of barriers to successful execution of strategy and business initiatives.

This role will be responsible for embedding strong risk management into both the Firm’s technology initiatives and Change / Project management disciplines.  It is expected the incumbent will have a technology background, understand technology risk, SDLC and project methodologies. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person who is comfortable in an ever changing environment, enjoys a challenge and with proven experience establishing a function from zero base. We are looking for someone who prides themselves in exceptional stakeholder management, presentation and leadership skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Risk partnering for key project portfolio and change initiatives
  • Risk partnering for technology function, specifically Infrastructure, Operations, SDLC & Cyber
  • Leverage risk as an enabler and strategic device to ensuring successful outcomes for MinterEllison

Knowledge, skills & experience

  • Highly developed communication skills; proven capacity to develop strategy combined with practical and action-oriented approach;
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing Risk Policy and Frameworks;
  • Demonstrated experience in a technology or operational / role function and detailed understanding of key drivers, stakeholders and working with technical staff;
  • Experience in a complex matrix environment;
  • Strong project management experience, having spent time as a PM; and
  • Requisite project management qualifications.
  • Postgraduate/Masters degrees or other qualifications to perform the role at a fully competent level, plus 10 to 20 years of business related experience, including CISA certification
