The Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this role is to lead the Corporate Services operations for Sydney and Canberra offices, to provide a market leading and sustainable client and employee experience with best practice policies, procedures and services in the MinterEllison Way.  It will also support and lead aspects of the operational delivery of selected Business Operations initiatives with other Business Operations teams for the local office.

Your Role

 Joining us on a 12 Month Parental Leave Contract, you will be involved in a broad range of duties such as:

  • Lead and drive consistent strategic outcomes for the operations of the business centre, premises, client services and search & lodgement teams for the local office in line with the firm and Corporate Services Strategy
  • Actively partner and build authentic and enduring relationships with the local Office Managing Partner, Practice Group Leads, and senior Business Operations leaders (locally and nationally) to provide advice, identify strategies, produce and implement plans to effectively deliver operational outcomes across the office
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve practices, policies, procedures and service offerings nationally to create efficiency, operational excellence and firm benefits for the functional portfolio
  • Drive collaboration grounded in diversity with stakeholders and team members across the firm
  • Identify and promote sustainable ways of working
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to team leaders, building a high performance culture where team members are engaged and inspired to work to their full potential.
  • Active involvement on assigned projects and initiatives through to delivery and implementation
  • Formulate and manage local annual budgets and ongoing monitoring of expenditure against monthly P&L reports, via re-forecasts and accruals.
  • Demonstrate, promote and enable agile working throughout the office through technology, planning and premises capabilities.
  • Working with the Corporate Services management team, support operational lease management for local office including ensuring the landlord's compliance requirements and obligations are met.
  • Oversight of negotiation of relevant service contracts and agreements in conjunction with the Procurement team
  • Work and liaise with project teams, key stakeholders and experts on key property initiatives and projects including refurbishment and fit out work
  • Responsible for monitoring office space allocations and overseeing office churns and relocations, including tactical change management programs.
  • Working with the Risk team to manage key elements of the local office’s operational business continuity management processes to ensure mitigation of emergency risks.
  • Promote, enable, role model, communicate and drive accountability of behaviour that encompasses safe and compliant WHS practices in accordance with MinterEllison's legislative obligations and internal WHS policies and procedures.
  • Report all incidents, hazards and potential concerns through the appropriate channels and facilitate resolution where applicable.

More About You

We welcome applicants who have:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a corporate office and delivering services of the highest standard, preferably within a top tier professional services environment.
  • Ability to define, set and drive business goals at a strategic and operational level, and lead team members in achieving the same.
  • Proven project management skills including documentation and cross collaboration with other Business Operations functions
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills in order to develop and maintain strong working relationships with Chiefs, Directors, Heads of Functions and the local Office Managing Partner, Practice Group Heads and partners
  • Strong communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence at all levels of the firm
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, ability to innovate and demonstrated experience in continuous improvement

We would also like you to have an understanding or long term exposure to most of the following, with deep subject matter expertise in at least one:

  • Corporate hospitality and events management
  • Commercial property lease management including rent reviews, option exercising and lessor management
  • Property and facilities management including fit outs and maintenance programs
  • Business services delivery including search & lodgment, printing, mail and records management
