Corporate & Financial Litigation & Insolvency Lawyer: 2 - 4 years

Minter Ellison's Corporate & Financial Litigation and Insolvency (CFLI) team is consistently recognised by independent, international surveys as among the leading practices in Australia.  We work with major corporations, tier 1 banks and other leading lenders on high profile disputes.

You will enjoy an interesting mix of litigation matters, as you assist our lawyers, senior associates and partners on a wide range of corporate and financial disputes involving:

  • the Corporations Act;
  • enforceability of securities, priorities, mortgages and loan agreements;
  • contracts, joint venture agreements, share scheme arrangement disputes;
  • banker/customer duties, trusts and fiduciary duties, breaches of directors' duties;
  • corporate fraud, cheques, mistake/restitution;
  • leasing, property transactions, retirement villages, debt recovery;
  • trade practices, particularly misleading and deceptive and unconscionable conduct.

The successful applicant will be involved in all stages of litigation and dispute resolution as the need arises including:

  • drafting court documents, briefing counsel, taking statements and preparation of affidavits;
  • applications and trials, particularly applications for summary judgment, security for costs and mareva orders;
  • enforcement of judgments, including orders for possession, contested bankruptcy hearings and cost assessments;
  • settlement of disputes, including mediations, negotiations and arbitration, drafting settlement agreements and considering and advising on the GST consequences of out-of-court settlements; and
  • appointment of receivers and windings up.

To be successful you will have between 2 - 4 years of solid commercial litigation experience with a working knowledge of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules and the Corporations Act and a keen interest to work with the corporate and financial services sector. You will have a confident, personable approach towards your clients and colleagues, and be happy to assist where needed.
