The Role
We have an excellent opportunity for an Associate with 2–5 years’ experience to join our highly regarded national Health Industry Group in Brisbane. The team specialises in health regulatory, privacy and advisory work. Our clients include private and government organisations across the health and research sectors, both in Australia and internationally.
Working closely with Partner Sonja Read and a collaborative national team, you will gain exposure to a broad and engaging practice, including:
- Providing regulatory advice involving statutory interpretation and the application of law to complex matters, such as health funding arrangements, Medicare eligibility, privacy obligations, restrictions on health service providers (including pathology and diagnostic imaging), and regulation of therapeutic goods;
- Undertaking privacy impact assessments for large‑scale and complex projects;
- Conducting due diligence for health sector transactions;
- Drafting agreements and providing advice relating to medical research and clinical trials; and
- Advising on general health law matters affecting the day‑to‑day operations of health providers and medical practitioners, including consent and substitute decision‑making issues.
More About You
We welcome applications from lawyers who demonstrate:
- Strong technical skills in legal research, statutory interpretation (including privacy laws) and contract drafting;
- The ability to deliver clear, high‑quality, commercial and pragmatic advice, even under pressure;
- A genuine interest in working with health sector clients, even if this has not been your primary area of practice to date;
- A strong client focus and the ability to build enduring relationships with colleagues, clients and industry experts;
- The ability to thrive in a highly collaborative team environment;
- An interest in, and willingness to contribute to, business development initiatives, including presentations, client training and publications;
- Resilience and a commitment to excellence aligned with our values; and
- Pride in your work and in being part of the team you represent.
