The Team
The Workplace practice group is a key strategic focus for the firm and one of the most successful employment law practices in Australia. Our team of industry leaders brings extensive experience across the full spectrum of employment law and industrial relations, advising major clients across the public and private sectors.
The Workplace Public Law team is a specialist sub-group dedicated to advising government departments, agencies and statutory authorities on public sector employment and industrial relations matters. The team brings deep expertise in public service legislation, judicial review, administrative decision-making, disciplinary processes and machinery of government changes, working closely with senior government stakeholders to deliver strategic, risk-informed advice.
Your Role
As an Associate in the Workplace Public Law team, you will advise and provide strategic assistance to government clients and stakeholders across a diverse range of public sector workplace matters. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Public sector employment advice
- Judicial review and administrative law
- Disciplinary and misconduct matters
- Legal drafting
- Matter management
- Client relationship building
- Team collaboration
More About You
We welcome applications from Associates who have:
- 4+ years' post admission experience in employment or administrative law and experience working with government and government agencies
- Experience working within a leading or top-tier law firm, and/or within the legal team of a large-scale department or organisation
- Eligibility to work and to practise law in Australia
- Strong research, technical drafting and advisory skills
- A passion for responsible AI use to enhance client experience
