The Role

 

This is a national role which requires a qualified lawyer with significant experience in real estate law, who is solutions-focused, enthusiastic and capable of driving initiatives and taking ownership of projects. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with demonstrated technical excellence in drafting, a passion for innovation, and proven experience in leveraging legal AI tools to enhance efficiency and work quality. This role is open to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane with agile working arrangements available. Part-time candidates are welcome to apply preferably with availability of 4 days per week.

 

The role is well supported by the Business Unit Leader and a collaborative group of knowledge colleagues across the firm. You will not be tied to the billable hour and will have autonomy to shape knowledge initiatives and drive innovation. You will be able to achieve a good work/life balance while building relationships and driving improvements in how the Real Estate practice manages and leverages its knowledge assets.

 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Champion the adoption and effective use of legal AI tools within the national Real Estate practice
  • Manage and maintain the Real Estate precedent library, drafting and updating precedents to reflect legislative changes and best practice
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI for contract review, due diligence and other workflows
  • Train and support lawyers in using AI tools effectively, staying current with developments in AI
  • Work with lawyers to establish efficient processes to capture key knowledge artefacts and promote awareness of knowledge resources from client transactions
  • Monitor Real Estate legislation, regulatory changes and industry developments, preparing updates and publications
  • Coordinate internal legal training programs and continuing education initiatives for Real Estate lawyers
  • Execute the national Knowledge Management Strategy within Real Estate and contribute to firm-wide knowledge projects
  • Review existing processes, technology and resources and make recommendations for improvements.

 

Skills required

 

  • Qualified lawyer with 5+ years of experience in Real Estate law at a large law firm
  • Current Practising Certificate
  • Demonstrated technical excellence in drafting Real Estate documents including contracts for sale, leases, development agreements and related documentation
  • AI Savvy – have done more than just experiment on occasion
  • Adaptability to interact with evolving roles such as knowledge curators, prompt engineers and workflow architects
  • Commitment to upskilling in new technologies and methodologies for knowledge capture, curation, and delivery.
