The Technology, Digital and Data team
MinterEllison is currently offering an opportunity for a Senior Associate to work as part of our Technology, Digital and Data team in Brisbane. This role will have a primary focus working on front end deals involving technology and IP transactions, commercialisation, collaboration and innovation for both public and private sector clients.
The role
Working with a national group of specialised Technology, Data and IP lawyers and partners you will assist clients in achieving their policy and business objectives. Your role will be varied and challenging, covering regulatory and commercial advice, and ranging from the drafting of complex contracts to advising on the application of and compliance with Australia's intellectual property, data, privacy, franchising, information security and security of critical infrastructure laws.
This is an ideal opportunity to be involved in a range of interesting and intellectually stimulating matters, and to work alongside MinterEllison's technology, cyber and risk consultants.
As a senior lawyer in this team you will be working directly with both government and corporate clients. These clients trust MinterEllison with their biggest and most complex matters. You will be part of a team, collaborating across practice areas and across offices, as well as working with individuals who are recognised as leaders in their fields.
What you need
To be successful in this role you will be client-centric, a self-starter with a collaborative nature, and have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. You will be passionate about technology law, and emerging data, privacy and AI regulation and committed to delivering excellent solutions.
We welcome applications from candidates with:
- Minimum of 5 years' post admission
- Australia, UK or NZ qualified
- Strong experience in commercial and regulatory work (including contract drafting (QITC) and regulatory advice)
- Demonstrated expertise in front-end technology related matters (and experience in IP, privacy and AI advisory will be highly regarded)
- Strong technical skills and the ability to deliver quality, commercial and pragmatic advice under pressure
- A strong client focus and demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships with peers, clients and industry experts
- Strong communication and relationship skills, including managing teams
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
- An interest in and willingness to contribute to business development initiatives including presentations, client training and publications
