The Role

 

The Senior Developer, Business Solutions is a key member of the high-performing Reporting and Analysis team within the Financial Services function. The role is pivotal in supporting the reporting and data functions for the business and involves both project-based and operational tasks, collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver innovative, client-focused solutions. 

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong commercial acumen by leveraging market insights to implement innovative software solutions, optimizing development processes, and fostering strategic partnerships to enhance business growth and profitability. This role requires an enthusiasm for data and improving efficiencies, as well as adaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and reporting needs and translate business requirements into specifications for data structures, database views, or reporting outputs.
  • Develop scalable solutions that integrate with business processes and KPIs, ensuring alignment with the BI framework and SLAs.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis using technical analytics tools (like SQL and Python) to uncover key business insights and leverage ETL processes to prepare, integrate, and analyse data for reporting and operational needs.
  • Design and deliver dashboards and reports using Power BI, Jedox, SQL, Excel or any other reporting system available to the team including developing compelling visualisations to communicate actionable insights effectively.
  • Promptly address and fulfill business data requests and reporting issues in accordance with key SLAs.
  • Maintain and update documentation, including business glossaries, data dictionaries, and training materials.
  • Promote Power BI adoption through training and expert support, ensuring a smooth transition and fostering self-service reporting across the firm as well as mentoring team members on reporting tools, and dashboard design.
  • Ensure alignment with best practices throughout the SDLC through conducting system testing, creating test plans, and facilitating user acceptance testing.

 

What you need

 

  • strong commitment to continuous improvement, learning, and maintaining high ethical standards, along with a comprehensive understanding of the entire process lifecycle
  • exceptional verbal and written communication skills to engage with stakeholders of all levels and prepare meaningful documentation
  • ability to lead projects independently and leverage cross-functional teams to achieve strategic goals, ensuring successful project delivery and fostering a collaborative work environment
  • good understanding of data governance practices and familiarity with business glossaries, data dictionaries, and taxonomy development is desired
  • ideally you will have over 5 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in professional services, using various BI tools and ideally be Power BI certified

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, or a related field is essential.
  • Proficiency in Power BI (certification preferred), SQL, Python, and Advanced Excel (Expertise in Power Query, DAX, Data Modelling, VBA, complex PivotTables, dynamic charts, and automation)
  • Experience in a professional services environment, with legal sector experience highly desirable, especially with Legal Practice Management Systems (PMS) like Elite 3E.
