The Team
General Counsel & Risk Team ('GCR') team plays a pivotal role at the heart of the Firm, overseeing risk, compliance, and regulatory obligations across the business. The team is recognised for its technical expertise and collaborative approach, working closely with partners, practice groups and business services to embed a strong compliance culture across the Firm. This is a permanent opportunity working as a Senior Compliance Analyst within the GCR Team.

Your Role
We are seeking a Senior Compliance Analyst to join our General Counsel & Risk Team across our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane offices. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to contribute to a high-performing team at a leading law firm, while taking on meaningful senior-level responsibilities.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Participating in project-related tasks which support the Firm's risk management program of work in relation to AML/CTF compliance
- Undertaking Client Due Diligence ('CDD') and risk assessments on the Firm's new and existing clients, and performing counter-party and payor due diligence as necessary
- Analysing Politically Exposed Person ('PEP'), sanctions and adverse media in relation to clients, including money laundering, terrorism financing, bribery, corruption, fraud, tax evasion and reputational risk
- Liaising with stakeholders to obtain and interpret corporate documents and other client-provided information in line with the Firm's AML/CTF obligations, whilst maintaining strict confidentiality
- Growing and developing team members by monitoring the work of junior Compliance Analysts and providing constructive feedback, coaching and quality assurance
- Leading and participating in discussions with partners and other internal stakeholders on AML/CTF matters, including joining calls alongside junior team members to provide senior-level guidance and support
- Supporting the Legal Counsels / Senior Advisers with complex reviews, escalations and operational decision-making
- Conducting a variety of internal audits regarding the Firm's AML/CTF compliance and assisting with preparing compliance reports for the regulator (AUSTRAC)

More About You
We are looking for compliance professionals with prior experience in a compliance or risk-related role, with at least 3+ years of hands-on experience conducting KYC and CDD checks within a law firm, a strong understanding of AML/CTF regulations and professional obligations within the legal sector, and experience conducting sanctions, PEP and adverse media searches.
You will also have:
- A strong ethical mindset and integrity in handling sensitive information
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Effective organisational and prioritisation abilities, with the capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team and support junior colleagues
- Familiarity with Intapp, Elite 3E, Appian or FirstAML (desirable)
- A genuine interest in developing your career in a top-tier legal practice
