Overview 

Reporting to the Head of Culture & Wellbeing, the Inclusion, Diversity & Belonging Manager will design and implement development programs and initiatives aligned with the IDB strategy. This senior role requires deep organizational understanding, broad diversity and inclusion experience, and involvement with Culture & Performance initiatives. The right individual will have strong influencing skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience managing various stakeholder groups, thriving on collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with Head of Culture & Wellbeing, Culture team, D&I Steering Committee Chair, Chief Talent Officer, D&I Working Group, employee networks, and other team members to design and deliver organisational development solutions to support the Firm strategy. 

  • Implement and embed the Inclusion, Diversity & Belonging strategy and reporting framework for key initiatives, clearly demonstrating return on investment for key development initiatives. 

  • Design and manage the implementation of key IDB programs, initiatives and support material in consultation with business leaders, subject matter experts in the Talent Development team and other members of the Talent team. 

  • Responsible for D&I reporting (both internal and external) including WGEA compliance and gender pay gap reporting, AWEI submission, Law Council of Australia gender equitable briefing reporting and regular internal D&I reporting on key metrics. 

  • Provide governance and advice, acting as the key contact to the Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee and employee networks (gender equity, LGBTQ+ inclusion, cultural inclusion) 

  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and lead development programs.  

  • Manage relationships, negotiate contractual arrangements and the performance feedback process with external providers.  

  • Maintain knowledge of trends and best in class development solutions in the market and continually refresh development solutions and external provider partnerships to ensure commercial relevance and fit for the Firm. 

  • Define and manage the IDB budget. 

  • Manage responses to requests for information for client tenders and proposals. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

  • Extensive business experience in corporate and professional services ideally large Law Firm environment, with a solid background in generalist HR, Diversity and Inclusion or Talent Development, including sound understanding relevant legislation and reforms. 

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and lead change, and work productively as part of a small, experience and specialist team.  

  • Experience in analysing employee experience data and external trends to provide insights and inform decisions. 

  • Experience in designing and/or delivering IDB programs and co-designing relevant interventions to drive change aligned with strategy and context at team level (essential). This role requires program design and delivery capability. 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence at Partner and Executive level is essential.  

  • Excellent communications skills – written and verbal including whole firm communications, thought leadership pieces and Executive Team and Board reporting.  

  • External profile and credibility as a thought leader e.g. profile and involvement in organisations such as WGEA, DCA, Champions of Change Coalition (ideal but not required) 

  • Experience in working strategically and collaboratively in HR, L&D and/ or Talent Development, and evidence demonstrating the return on investment of Talent Development strategies and programs for stakeholders. 

  • Experience in coaching and supervising a junior team member.
