Your role

A great opportunity currently exists for a legal practitioner with at least 1-2 years of post-admission experience to join our pre-eminent Health and General Insurance disputes team in Melbourne on a full-time basis.

Our national health law team is led by Sarah Lark and Shane Evans who are highly regarded and recognised for their in-depth understanding of medical negligence, coronial law, health regulation and advisory, disputes and crisis/ reputational matters.

You will join a specialist team led by Sarah from Sydney advising corporate health care providers on resolving a wide range of litigated and non-litigated disputes and inquiries, including medical malpractice claims, coronial inquests, statutory complaints and class actions. You will also assist our corporate health clients with clinical governance advisory matters and provide risk management advice following incidents. You will also work closely with our Melbourne practice group leader and partner, Peter Coats, and partner, Dora Cosentino, on general insurance matters (sensitive claims and general liability) for our VIC Gov and corporate clients in the Melbourne office.

Working in a supportive, flexible and close-knit team across Melbourne and Sydney, you will be solution-driven, commercial and pragmatic, and focused on understanding our clients' needs. With there having been recent changes in our Melbourne team, the role presents an excellent career opportunity for the right candidate to assist Sarah to re-build our local offering of our pre-eminent national health law practice. You will also do rewarding work for the broader general insurance team and have a strong, local connection to Sarah and her Sydney team, as well as your Melbourne colleagues, local partner supervision and career pathways.
