Your Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Lawyer or Associate with 2-5 years PQE with experience in a reputable real estate team and a passion for real estate law. This varied role will combine leasing and general property work including residential development project work.
You will bring confidence, enthusiasm, attention to detail and drive to add to our team of experienced lawyers and paralegals and will have the opportunity to be mentored and trained by one of our most respected and accomplished Partners, Peter Mitchell. In this award winning team you will work closely with Peter and his team of highly accomplished lawyers and paralegals with additional support from the legal support team. You will also have the opportunity to work with lawyers across our National Real Estate practice. The team is dedicated to the training and development of all team members, and will upskill you in the areas you may not yet have extensive experience in, or the areas you have a desire to learn.
Peter has deep relationships across the real estate industry and his team looks after the full remit of leasing for significant clients including Abacus, Brookfield, CBA. Cromwell, Dexus, GPT, Goodman, Lendlease, Mirvac, Stockland, CBA, Woolworths, Australia Post and Vicinity Centres. You will have the opportunity to deal directly with our major clients daily to manage your own files.

MinterEllison's Melbourne Real Estate team is led by Partners Peter Mitchell, Carla Deluca, Anthony Poynton, and David Chin and provides comprehensive legal support to major institutional property investors, developers, landlords, retirement village operators, government agencies, contractors, financiers and tenants on all facets of commercial, industrial, and retail and residential property including due diligences, acquisitions, disposals, development, leasing and disputes. Our energetic and high profile team is proud to be working on iconic projects shaping the Melbourne landscape now and into the future.
What you need
We invite applications from property lawyers who possess:
- Expertise in commercial property law, with a special emphasis on landlord and tenant leasing of commercial, retail, and industrial real estate, or capital transactions.
- A comprehensive understanding of retail tenancy and/or sale of land legislation.
- A commercial approach to all matters and an understanding of the real estate industry.
- Exceptional drafting and organisational capabilities, coupled with a strong adherence to process.
- A client-oriented approach, with a proven track record of building lasting relationships with peers, clients, and industry experts.
- An exceptional eye for detail.
- The capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively, with experience in sharing files and clients.
- The ambition to contribute to the leadership and expansion of a thriving, collaborative, high-volume practice.
- A keen interest in continuous process improvement, generating efficiencies through innovative practices and cutting-edge technology.
