The Team

MinterEllison’s Legal Service Operations team is focused on utilising people expertise, refined business processes and innovative digital platforms and automation to facilitate the delivery of all our client-facing legal services across the business. As a key part of our broader legal operations function, this team works closely with our legal professionals and external service providers to ensure that we adopt practices with a positive impact on our Firm’s profitability and deliver a consistently high-quality experience to our clients.


Your Role

To support the firm's objective, we are excited to be building out our Legal Project Management (LPM) function and we require a Legal Project Management Advisor role to support that offering.  As a Legal Project Management Advisor, you will be responsible for upskilling our legal teams in LPM best practice and project managing complex / high demand matters, in a client-facing capacity.


MinterEllison's Legal Project Management function works alongside our legal teams to project manage the matter through the full matter lifecycle, including:

  • working with stakeholders to agree on scope, timelines and budget
  • developing a matter plan
  • creating and delivering client and team communications
  • tracking and monitoring scope, budget and progress
  • anticipating and managing risks to project success
  • driving stakeholder relationship management and reporting
  • identifying improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of legal service delivery
  • facilitating 'lessons learned' sessions.


This role will involve:

  • Providing hands on project management and advice to legal teams on LPM methodologies and tools
  • Acting as subject matter expert on a range of topics, including project planning, scoping, budget preparation, and fee and scope management
  • Generating revenue through engagement on complex / high demand matters and meeting assigned KPIs
  • Supporting our LPM Lead in designing and delivering training to upskill our legal teams and ingrain LPM principles into general matter management across the group's legal teams
  • Championing the benefits of LPM to senior stakeholders across the business to garner support for LPM initiatives
  • Contributing to the growth of our suite of tools and templates to be leveraged by the LPM team and our lawyers
  • Implementing technology solutions to support effective LPM.


More About You

  • Strong stakeholder influencing and relationship building skills
  • Strong client-facing skills and experience, preferably within a legal environment
  • Demonstrable experience in project management
  • Proven ability to establish best practice methodologies with a continuous improvement focus
  • Capacity to manage varying levels of tasks - from thinking strategically to troubleshooting detail where needed
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively whilst maintaining focus on internal efficiency
  • High level of resilience and the ability to respond to client and project changes and work under pressure and tight timeframes
  • Superb time management, judgment, decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent IT skills, in particular Microsoft Excel
  • Qualifications in Law, project management or IT are advantageous but not mandatory
