The team

 

Our Client & Market Growth (CMG) team supports the MinterEllison Partnership to achieve its client and strategic objectives through the development and execution of business development and marketing initiatives. Our national team plays a critical role in the firm’s success, ensuring the firm maintains strong relationships with new and existing clients while enhancing our brand and reputation.

 

About the role

 

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane to support our Dispute Resolution (DR) Business Unit through the next stage of its growth strategy. You will work as part of a national team to support our DR Partners to identify, prioritise and convert strategic client and market opportunities aligned to firm strategy. The role will focus on building and activating qualified pipelines across priority pursuit areas, supporting deeper engagement with key firm clients, and driving sustainable revenue growth on the matters that matter.

 

Our DR Business Unit comprises more than 30 Partners across the following practices:

 

  • Commercial Litigation & Class Actions
  • Restructuring & Insolvency
  • Intellectual Property
  • Competition and Regulatory
  • Climate Litigation

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Work as a part of a high performing CMG team to drive business development activities across DR practice groups, both in the domestic and international markets.
  • Support the DR Business Unit and Practice Groups Leaders to develop and execute successful market growth strategies across priority pursuit areas.
  • Build trusted relationships with Partners and key stakeholders to drive accountability for client growth, pipeline progression and strategic priorities.
  • Develop and execute targeted client strategies and account plans for priority clients, supporting deeper relationships and increased share of wallet.
  • Leverage data, client insights and emerging AI-enabled tools to identify trends, prioritise opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Build, track and convert qualified pipelines, including strategic pursuits aligned to priority clients, sectors and firm growth areas.
  • Support Partners in pricing strategy and commercial positioning, including improving margins on key clients and pursuits.
  • Identify and activate cross-Business Unit opportunities to expand client relationships and generate new workstreams across the firm.
  • Measure, assess and report on the effectiveness of marketing and business development identifying trends.
  • Design and execute targeted, insight-led campaigns aligned to priority clients, sectors and strategic pursuits to enhance DR's market positioning.

  • Ability to form effective relationships and collaborate as part of a large team contributing to firm's purpose of creating sustainable value with our clients, people and communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and converting strategic pipelines, not just supporting pursuits.
  • Strong influencing skills to manage senior stakeholders – both legal and non-legal.
  • High levels of EQ and business acumen.
  • Experience working in complex, matrixed environments with cross-practice collaboration.
  • Experience in leading key stakeholders to evaluate and deliver pitch, tender and proposal responses.
  • Agility to work with Partners to develop strategies for key clients by building relationships with clients and industry/market leaders.
  • Ability to drive internal and external client listening opportunities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Highly proactive with identifying cross-firm opportunities and a client service focus.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications or Business or a related discipline (can be in addition to a law or business unit related degree).
  • Marketing and/or sales experience in a robust and mature services environment, ideally B2B or Professional Services.
