Join one of Australia’s leading insurance litigation practices.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced lawyer to join our Perth Dispute Resolution and Insurance team and work closely with Melissa Joyce, a nationally recognised leader in insurance law.

You will join a high-performing and collaborative team that advises a diverse and established client base, including State Government; public liability, workers’ compensation and professional indemnity insurers; ASX-listed and multinational resource companies; self-insured organisations; and not-for-profit entities.

Our practice acts across a broad range of insurance and liability disputes including public and product liability, sensitive claims, workers’ compensation, professional indemnity, employment practices liability, discrimination claims, defamation matters and other complex insured disputes.

While experience advising insurers on policy coverage is advantageous, we also value the strong technical and litigation skills that can be gained within plaintiff-focused practices.

The Role

Working alongside experienced practitioners, you will:

  • Manage a varied portfolio of insurance and liability disputes
  • Advise clients on complex liability and indemnity issues
  • Prepare and run litigation matters through courts and tribunals
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, insurers and industry experts
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of a nationally recognised insurance practice

About you

We’re looking for a commercially minded lawyer who brings:

  • 5+ years’ PQE with strong technical experience in liability claims
  • Exposure to workers’ compensation, professional indemnity, property and business interruption, and/or employment practices liability matters (desirable but not essential)
  • An understanding of insurance reserving principles and claims management practices
  • Strong knowledge of the Civil Liability Act, Limitation Act and relevant tort and contract law principles
  • Experience with District Court and Supreme Court, including preparing submissions and managing interlocutory disputes
  • The ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and pragmatically to clients
  • Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment and strong technical drafting skills
  • A client-focused approach, with a proven ability to build trusted and enduring relationships
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine commitment to team success
  • Pride in delivering high-quality work and contributing to a positive team culture
