Our Team
Our Funds and Investment Management Team operates within the firm's national Financial Services and Funds business unit. The Funds and Investment Management Team is a recognized market leading practice renowned for its deep industry knowledge and longstanding relationships with a large number of leading Australian and global fund and investment manager clients. The practice, led by partner Michael Lawson, is consistently ranked in Chambers Global/APAC and in Leading Lawyers as a leading Australian funds practice.
The Team has a tier 1 client base which includes leading global fund managers, Australian and international alternative fund managers, Australian and international retail fund managers (including ETFs and listed funds) across all asset classes, Australian and international wholesale fund managers across all asset classes, local and international pension funds and institutional investors, boutique investment houses and other sophisticated local and international investors. Over a number of years the Funds and Investment Management Team has worked on some of the most innovative fund structures, fund launches and funds related transactions with managers of third party pools of capital.
Your Opportunity
We have an opportunity for an Associate and/or Senior Associate to join the Funds and Investment Management Team. You will enjoy fund formational and investment structure work; fund management and advisory work in the financial services, private credit, private equity, venture capital, real estate and infrastructure sectors; and financial services regulatory advisory work. The Funds and Investment Management Team assists clients in their raising of capital, the ongoing operation of their funds and mandates, and the deployment of capital – often working closely with other specialist teams across the Firm. Advisory work may involve assisting clients in relation to the Corporations Act, Australian financial services licence compliance and the ASX/Cboe rules as part of practice.
Our national model means you will work collaboratively with a team of experienced and supportive professionals across our network of offices across the country.
More About You
We welcome applications from lawyers who have:
- At least 3 years of post-admission experience gained within a reputable law firm, professional services or in-house, with funds and investment management exposure and/or financial services regulatory experience
- Excellent drafting skills and technical ability
- A collaborative team spirit with the ability to lead, motivate and mentor junior lawyers
- A client focused mindset and a demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships
- The commitment to invest in the team, business line and firm
- Resilience and a commitment to provide exceptional levels of service to our local and international client base.
