The Role
We currently have an exciting new position for an experienced Corporate Communications & Media Manager to join our communications team with the intent to elevate MinterEllison's share of voice with a focus on key industry issues.
As a valued member of the communications team, you will possess expertise in media relations, crisis management, campaign themes, digital and external communications. This role would be ideal for a seasoned Corporate Communications & Media Manager looking to take the next step in their career. This opportunity is open to our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office with hybrid working arrangements available.
Responsibilities will include:
External Communications & Media
- Develop a media relations strategy that is aligned to areas of client growth and flagship thought leadership.
- Manage and execute a proactive story calendar and pitching of Industry issues and major campaigns to increase share of voice.
- Collaborate with the digital team to align on content strategy and leverage, where appropriate, key opportunities for media.
- Nurture existing and build new media relationships across business and legal press.
- Develop and execute media relations training for firm spokespeople.
- Actively manage proactive and reactive media enquiries.
- Draft media releases for key firm initiatives and deals.
- Educate and guide Partners, Senior Associates on how to write to engage both clients and media.
- Monitor and report on firm share of voice and actively identifying areas for further press coverage.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure flagship thought leadership is newsworthy.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to leverage deals and thought leadership across multiple platforms beyond media – for e.g. social media, client communications.
- Support the Director of Corporate Communications & Media in developing an issues management plan, including proactive scenario planning for potential issues.
More About You
- Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in communications, journalism, media
- 8+ years' experience in senior corporate communications roles, at large firms/corporates, supporting C-suite
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Attention to detail for the drafting and development of communications
- Strong media relationships across both legal and business press
- Knowledge and confidence of social media channels, use of social listening tools, social media management platforms and tools/analytics
- Extensive experience in writing and managing content across a range of internal and external channels
- Demonstrated experience in working with multi-functional teams, to deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple 'asks' in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively across teams, able to advise and instil confidence from stakeholders
