The Role
The Data Insights Manager will mentor the Data and reporting community who are responsible for delivering critical operational reports and dashboards. They will ensure best practice and consistent reporting by designing and creating optimal processes and procedures for the analytics community to empower them to make strategic decisions with data. This role is a full-time permanent position based in our Sydney office with hybrid working arrangements available.
Duties & Responsibilities
Data and Insights driven:
- Data Driven Insights and Analysis: Summarise key insights to members of the executive team and to the firm, to drive better outcomes, support strategic ambitions and influence key decision making and change.
- Manage the planning, development, and delivery of key insights programs from the conceptual stage through to execution and collation of results to drive business outcomes.
- Assist the function in becoming more efficient and effective using data analytics, insights, and automation.
- Leverage AI to elevate insights, ensuring solutions are scalable and manageable.
BI Capability delivery and modernisation
- Partner with the data community across the firm to drive and deliver D&A initiatives and programs of work.
- Continuous review and optimization of the BI strategy/platform.
- Work within a small team to help mature self-service BI and AI/ML capabilities within the firm.
- Build scalable, complex and automated reporting solutions.
- Collaborate with IT to innovate; to evolve reporting capabilities and data management.
- Promote a collaborative, customer-centric, and high-performance team culture.
- Elevate the reporting framework to a higher level of strategic maturity and operational effectiveness
Data community mentoring:
- Lead and mentor growing community of data and BI analysts, building a high-performance culture where members are empowered to automate, streamline and apply best practice designs to their insights
- Enable business units to perform self-service reporting and to extract actionable insights.
- Identify and provide solutions for ongoing visualisation, data modelling, automation skills needed within the team.
- Mentor and support an engaged data community across the firm to provide development opportunities as well as champion analytics adoption and foster collaboration across the data community.
Senior consulting mindset and collaborative approach:
- Develop, engage and foster relationships with key stakeholders by understanding their needs, providing analytical recommendations and solutions for firm and client problems.
- Use a trusted advisor approach to educate and demonstrate the value of data, analytics and insights to drive uptake within the firm.
- Manage expectations by identifying, communicating and addressing risks, assumptions and constraints; and further guiding stakeholders to a sustainable, best practice solution
- Resilience to steer solutions in a direction that is best for the firm and reflective of best practice data and analytics
Program / project management:
- Act as project lead for one or more key business initiatives, defining and tracking overall project plan and related milestones
- Collaborate with others to agree objectives and organise resources effectively to achieve desired outcomes
- Proactively identify challenges / opportunities and engage stakeholders (internal / external) to ensure impact.
Experience
- 6+ years of experience within a data analytics function and in self-service reporting and visualisation
- Must have a proven ability to translate high level ambiguous business requirements into data insights
- Proven career experience in data storytelling and communicating value with data.
- Experience working in an agile environment, sound understanding of SDLC principles and managing BAU requests within this operating model
- Exposure with cloud-based Data Warehouse and Data Lake environments (experience with AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Data science/Machine learning/ Python or R experience within an Enterprise environment (preferred but will develop for the right candidate)
- Quantitative experience around interrogating large datasets with advanced proficiency in spreadsheet and database programs.
- Strong Experience with SQL / Excel and proficient in data visualisation with PowerBI supported by Power platforms to enable automation and efficiency across the business operations function
