The Team
Our practice specialises in expert consulting services in electronic discovery and the practical application of technology into legal practice. We deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions for lawyers and clients during litigation, regulatory responses, investigations and compliance activities.
The Discovery and Forensics team provides comprehensive eDiscovery services from data identification through to production, digital forensics for investigations, AI-enabled document review, and technology consulting for transactions. You will work at the forefront of legal technology innovation with experienced senior consultants committed to your development.
The Role
We currently have a full-time permanent opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join our Discovery and Forensics team. You will manage multiple concurrent, technically complex workstreams whilst providing strategic guidance to legal teams and clients. You will be responsible for designing and implementing sophisticated discovery workflows, managing advanced analytics projects, and delivering high-quality outcomes on high-profile matters.
This role requires deep technical expertise combined with strong consulting capabilities, working with a high degree of autonomy, managing stakeholder relationships, coordinating with external vendors and forensic partners, and mentoring junior team members. This role is available in either our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane offices with hybrid work arrangements available.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Advise on data collection strategies and preservation protocols
- Quality assuring vendor-processed documents
- Manage sophisticated review databases with multiple stakeholders
- Design and deliver advanced analytics workshops
- Manage predictive coding and technology-assisted review workflows
- Finalise document reviews and manage productions in accordance with court orders and regulatory requirements
- Prepare workflow evidence and affidavits for court proceedings
- Prepare cost estimates and budgets for complex matters whilst monitoring spend
- Identify and escalate risks in discovery workflows
- Identify matters requiring digital forensic partner engagement
- Coordinate with forensic partners to ensure seamless integration of forensic workstreams
- Quality assuring forensic outputs to meet matter requirements and technical standards
- Provide expert technical advice to legal teams and clients
- Lead client meetings and presentations on technical matters
- Manage vendor relationships
- Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders across complex, long-running matters
About You
We welcome applications from professionals who possess:
- Strong academic qualifications in IT, computer science, data science or a related field
- 4+ years demonstrated experience managing complex ediscovery workstreams, including involvement in advanced analytics and predictive coding projects
- Experience in a top-tier law firm or professional services environment
- Advanced technical skills in document and database management, including deep expertise in ediscovery platforms and expert knowledge of advanced analytics, predictive coding and technology-assisted review methodologies
- Strong understanding of data processing, metadata analysis and complex data structures, with proficiency in managing large-scale, complex review databases
- Strong understanding of digital forensics capabilities, when to engage specialist partners, and ability to assess matter requirements and determine appropriate forensic partner engagement
- Ability to manage concurrent technically complex workstreams with minimal guidance and advanced project planning, task management and resource coordination capabilities
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels with developing consulting capabilities and ability to provide strategic advice
- Experience coordinating with external vendors and forensic providers, strong problem-solving skills with ability to resolve complex technical challenges, and ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining quality standards
- Strategic thinker with ability to see beyond immediate technical requirements, strong commercial awareness and client focus, and commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
- Proven technical expertise and readiness to take on greater consulting and client-facing responsibilities, motivated by the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges, deliver strategic value to clients, and develop leadership capabilities
