The Team
Our Financial Services Finance team is at the forefront of the firm's AML/CTF Program reforms, delivering a newly centralised Finance support function that underpins the accuracy, consistency and compliance of critical finance processes across the firm. Working at the intersection of Finance Operations, Finance Systems and GCO Compliance, this team plays a pivotal role in shaping and embedding the future state of finance service delivery at MinterEllison.
Your Role
A fantastic opportunity exists for a Finance Support Adviser to join our Financial Services team. This is a newly created, high-impact role responsible for co-ordinating and delivering seamless centralised Finance support as part of the firm's AML/CTF Program reforms — ensuring that critical processes such as client and matter data updates, third party payor creation and maintenance, and centralised process changes are executed efficiently, accurately and consistently across the firm.
Working closely with the Support and Training Manager, Finance Systems, Finance Operations and GCO Compliance Team, the Finance Support Adviser supports day-to-day workflow co-ordination, develops and maintains standard operating procedures and provides trusted advice to front-end users.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- overseeing, distributing and co-ordinating requests to the centralised Finance team, including client and matter maintenance and new third party payor creation and maintenance
- monitoring and reporting on request volumes and resolution, ensuring timely completion and alignment with agreed SLAs, and tracking process bottlenecks to escalate issues early to the Support and Training Manager
- developing and maintaining the full suite of centralised Finance SOPs, work instructions and process maps, ensuring documentation reflects interim and future-state processes
- performing quality checks on Finance Support actions to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance, and supporting complex or escalated requests requiring collaboration and stakeholder input
- identifying recurring issues or failure points, proactively proposing process improvements, and communicating changes in procedure or system behaviour to relevant stakeholders
- assisting the Support and Training Manager and Finance Trainers by contributing procedural expertise to training materials and developing user-friendly guides, quick reference materials and knowledge articles for business users
- providing coaching and support to team members as they adopt new processes, and using insights from work volumes, trends and user feedback to recommend and implement process improvements
More About You
To perform in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- at least 5 years' functional business experience, demonstrating strong working knowledge of a legal environment
- experience in process co-ordination, workflow management or shared-service/centralised processing
- experience working with critical finance management systems, preferably Elite 3E or other legal practice management systems
- experience presenting technical information in a way that is easy to understand, and strong problem-solving, analytical and investigative skills including the ability to identify and resolve procedural gaps
- the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment across Finance and GCO Compliance, and excellent written communication skills with the ability to develop clear procedures and process documents
Highly desirable:
- exposure to AML/CTF obligations, client/matter onboarding or finance compliance functions
- experience supporting operational or systems change projects
