Your Role

 

An exciting new permanent opportunity is available for an experienced Head Chef to join our Corporate Services team in our Sydney office. You will have the opportunity to lead and inspire the Client Services kitchen team, and create exceptional dining experiences for our clients, visitors and employees.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the kitchen team to organise, prepare and cook fresh, high-quality food and meals for boardroom meetings, events, functions and internal café.
  • Be the Food Safety Supervisor and ensure all food safety obligations are met/exceeded
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Client Services Team Leader and broader Client Services team to ensure service is delivered seamlessly.
  • Participate in planning meetings and maintain consistent communication on menu, dietary requirements, timing, and availability
  • Design, plan and write menus for events and functions, ensuring optimum variety and seasonality. Effectively communicate changes, updates and queries with the broader Client Services Team.
  • Elevate the Client Services team's capacity for premium events - such as chef-run interactive canape stations and fine dining degustation experiences.
  • Direct service periods for large events; running the pass and managing service requirements in conjunction with the Client Services Assistant Team Lead
  • Ensure food costs are managed effectively within the approved pricing matrix
  • Coach and mentor the kitchen team with decision making, innovation, efficient workflow and service direction, upskilling, support in production and dividing responsibilities across the team.
  • Effectively manage performance within the kitchen team including informing the annual performance review cycle
  • Coordinate resource requirements for events and functions, rostering of the kitchen team including casual and agency temp staff in line with firm policies. Supervise kitchen team for afterhours events as required.
  • Administration responsibilities such as ordering of all food, stock management (incl, audits, unpacking and shelving deliveries) and invoice management. Sustaining a consistently high standard and wide variety of fresh, local produce
  • Manage all maintenance of the kitchen, ensuring cleaning of kitchen and equipment to comply with health and safety standards.

 

 

More About You

 

  • 4+ years' experience as a Head Chef, leading the day-to-day operations of a kitchen.
  • Fine dining experience with strong focus on the client and service excellence.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment delivering premium food and beverage offerings.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to meet changing requirements and needs.
  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
  • Certificate IV in Kitchen Management desirable
  • Food Safety Certificate.
