Your role:

 

We are seeking an experienced Legal Research Assistant to join our Sydney Business Services team in a permanent full-time position.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a consistent quality of work and will be involved in a broad range of duties, such as:

 

  • Providing filing and lodgement services in accordance with the government's practice and procedures at courts, tribunals, and government departments.
  • Conducting various online searches, including litigation, company, personal name (PPSR), and property titles.
  • Preparing research on statutes and previous court and tribunal decisions relevant to our clients' cases.
  • Preparing documents for filing and lodgement services following government practices and procedures at courts, tribunals, and government departments.
  • Creating and managing workspaces for Property Exchange Australia (PEXA) electronic filings to facilitate secure property transactions. In conjunction, preparing the Client Authorisation Forms (CAF) and Verification of Identity (VOI) paperwork for lodgement. Maintaining the CAF and VOI registers for the purpose of enabling MinterEllison to act on a client’s behalf in PEXA.
  • Providing training to new partners, senior associates, associates, and lawyers on search and lodgement processes and procedures at courts, tribunals, and government departments.
  • Quality checking print production tasks to ensure that signatures and details of parties involved are completed before lodging at government departments.
  • Assisting with national and local projects, including the development of internal request forms.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and practices to enhance service offerings.
  • Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of procedures for courts, tribunals, and government departments.
  • Following work, health, and safety procedures and ensuring compliance with safe work practices.
  • Performing other ad hoc duties as required.

 

What you need:

 

We welcome applicants who have:

 

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment delivering strong customer service.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within a legal or professional services environment.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and multitask at times under pressure.
  • The ability to develop strong, productive working relationships with partners, senior associates, associates, lawyers, and administrative teams across the firm.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A strong proactive focus on the client and service excellence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to adapt and be flexible to meet changing requirements and needs.
  • Strong skills in influencing, negotiation, and delegation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in ServiceNow or other workflow applications would be well-regarded.
