Your Role

 

A great opportunity exists for an experienced Practice Team Leader (PTL) to join our national Disputes Competition & Insurance (DCI) Line of Business (LoB).

 

You will be a key member of the DCI national leadership team working alongside the Business Unit Leaders and Partners. Your role will see you lead and build a high performing legal and consulting support team and manage the day to day administration operations of the DCI LoB in Adelaide & Sydney, which enables Partners and client facing staff to deliver market leading business, legal and consulting services. 

 

Some of your areas of responsibilities for will include:

 

  • Lead and manage the administrative function of the DCI LoB including Dispute Resolution, Insurance & Corporate Risk and Competition, Climate & Technology Business Units in Adelaide & Sydney
  • Work with Partners to deliver strategic outcomes for their administration support, in line with the firm and legal and consulting support strategy 
  • Actively build trusting relationships with teams across the firm
  • Key contact for firm wide projects regarding change impacts to DCI
  • Collaborate, escalate, resolve and drive consistent administration support service delivery and processes
  • Manage approvals for the administration team in consultation with Partners to ensure adequate resourcing 
  • Manage ongoing resourcing requirements including end to end recruitment and the onboarding process
  • Active management and compliance in relation to the Legal Services Award
  • Collaborate with PTL colleagues to facilitating knowledge sharing and continuous improvement opportunities

 

What you need

 

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader or experienced Legal Secretary who also has strong relationship building skills. To be successful in this role you will have:
 

  • Proven people leadership experience and ability to engage a team of administrators working in an agile way
  • Previous 5+ years' experience as a Legal Secretary/Executive Assistant in a Legal & Consulting or professional services firm
  • Ability to quickly develop authentic and enduring relationships with Partners and key stakeholders and establish credibility and rapport
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, discernment, and problem solving and decision making skills 
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communications to suit audience
  • Ability to manage challenging conversations, influence and negotiate positive outcomes
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to meet changing requirements and needs
  • Ability to create and maintain an inclusive and positive team environment
