Our Team
Our Financial Services & Funds Team operates within the broader national Capital Markets & Corporate business line. The Team is renowned for its deep industry knowledge and the long-term relationships forged with clients. The practice, led by partners Stuart Johnson, Michael Lawson and Ker Wei Tiam, is consistently ranked in Chambers Global/APAC.
The Team has a tier 1 client base which includes leading global fund managers, Australian and international real estate investment groups, local and international pension funds and institutional investors, boutique investment houses and other sophisticated local and international investors.
Your Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Senior Associate to join the team. You will enjoy a broad mix of transactional property and infrastructure funds work across both wholesale and retail structures, fund management and advisory work in the financial services, real estate and infrastructure sectors. The practice assists clients in their raising of capital, the ongoing operation of their funds and mandates, and the deployment of capital – often working closely with other specialist teams across the Firm. You will also provide Board-level advisory services to clients, drawing on your transactional expertise to deliver practical and commercially sound guidance. Advisory work may involve assisting clients in relation to the Corporations Act, Australian financial services licence compliance and the ASX rules as part of practice.
Our national model means you will work collaboratively with a team of experienced and supportive professionals across our network of offices across the country.
More About You
We welcome applications from senior practitioners who have:
- At least 7 years of post-admission experience gained within a reputable law firm, professional services or in-house, with a strong grounding in M&A and corporate transactional work and meaningful exposure to, or demonstrable interest in, corporate and/or transactional funds management
- A sophisticated understanding of complex transactional structures, with the ability to lead matters independently and provide strategic, commercially astute advice to boards and senior stakeholders
- Proven experience in managing client relationships at a senior level, with a demonstrated ability to originate and develop enduring client partnerships
- Exceptional drafting skills and deep technical ability across relevant areas of law, including the Corporations Act, financial services regulation and ASX rules
- A track record of leading, mentoring and developing junior lawyers, contributing to the growth and culture of a high-performing team
- The vision and commitment to invest meaningfully in the team, business line and firm, and to play an active role in business development
- Resilience and an unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional levels of service to a sophisticated local and international client base
