Our Corporate M&A team is one of Australia's leading transactional practices with extensive, market leading experience in all aspects of M&A, corporate and securities law (including Private Capital),
Our Private Capital practice sits within our M&A team. We act for a large and established client base of international and Australian sponsors and corporates, including advising prominent private equity sponsors, fund managers and institutional investors on buyouts, growth equity investments, co-investments, bolt-on acquisitions, portfolio company restructurings and exits.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our M&A team, focusing on Private Capital transactions.
Working closely with Lee Horan, Kimberly Low and Nick Kipriotis, you will work on complex, high‑value domestic and cross-border transactions for sponsor clients and corporates.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading deal workstreams on private capital acquisitions, disposals and investments, including drafting and negotiating key transaction documents.
- Coordinating due diligence processes and providing commercially focused risk advice.
- Advising on deal structuring, regulatory matters and completion mechanics.
- Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to their development.
- Building client relationships and supporting business development.
About you
You are a commercially minded Senior Associate with a passion for Private Capital transactions and broader M&A who thrives in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current Australian practising certificate with approximately 5+ PQE in M&A and/or private capital at a leading law firm.
- Experience advising on Private Capital transactions, including investments, buyouts, exits, and restructurings.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills across complex transaction documentation.
- Excellent commercial judgment with the ability to provide clear, practical advice.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
