The Role
This role sits within the Business Insights and Solutions team in Financial Services and supports Finance-led initiatives through hands-on data analysis, validation and execution.
You will work across both project-based and operational activities, collaborating with Finance, Technology and Data teams to support data quality, system integration, testing and documentation. While reporting tools form part of the role, the primary focus is working with data across interconnected systems – understanding how it is created, transformed, controlled and consumed.
The role contributes practical delivery support to Finance transformation initiatives, including regulatory programs (such as AML), platform change and system refactoring. Success in this role is measured by delivery reliability, data integrity and knowledge continuity, rather than ownership of formal governance or strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and reconcile data across multiple enterprise systems using SQL, Python and Excel to investigate issues, validate outcomes and support Finance decisions.
- Develop a strong understanding of finance platforms (including Elite) and how data structures support reporting and operational processes.
- Work closely with Finance stakeholders to clarify and structure data and process requirements that enable effective solution design and delivery.
- Provide data-driven impact analysis to support Finance initiatives, reviewing workflows and data flows to identify inefficiencies, control risks and upstream and downstream impacts across reporting, finance operations, internal controls and connected systems. This includes cross-system data mapping and integration work (e.g. expense management, data warehouses and other finance platforms).
- Support major transformation initiatives, including regulatory programs (such as AML) and Elite on-prem to cloud migration, assisting with impact assessment, testing, reporting validation and staged or interim solutions to ensure data integrity and continuity.
- Support system testing and UAT activities, including preparation of validation checks, defect follow-up and maintenance of clear documentation (decision logs, data notes and process descriptions), contributing to knowledge transfer and cross-team coordination across Finance, Technology and Data teams.
- Contribute to reducing key-person risk by capturing system knowledge, data structures and operational decision history in a structured and reusable manner.
About You
- Strong experience working with data across multiple systems within complex organisational environments, with the ability to investigate, reconcile and clearly explain impacts
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable operating in ambiguity and evolving priorities
- Experience supporting Finance or operational system initiatives, with awareness of data integrity, controls and compliance considerations
- Strong SQL and advanced Excel capability; experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g. Python) is advantageous
- Able to contribute to system improvement and refactoring discussions without acting as a Business Analyst or owning formal requirements
- Strong documentation discipline and the ability to capture system knowledge clearly and accurately
- Comfortable operating in an execution-focused role, contributing through hands-on analysis, coordination and follow-through
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, or a related field
- Experience working in complex enterprise environments; professional services experience preferred
- Experience working with enterprise finance platforms (e.g. Elite 3E), particularly within a legal or matter-based environment, strongly preferred given the complexity of systems and platform initiatives underway
- Experience supporting system migration, integration or transformation initiatives is advantageous
- Experience with reporting or visualisation tools (including Power BI) useful, but this role is not primarily focused on dashboard development
