Your Role
 
An exciting permanent opportunity is available for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Data & Analytics team based in Sydney. This role will be varied and challenging, with a primary focus on supporting our strategic and operational data products by translating complex business requirements into actionable insights, supporting self-service BI and driving data driven decision-making. As a senior data analyst you will leverage your business analysis skills and strong technical data experience to deliver accurate and relevant data solutions using SQL, BI tools, and AI. Hybrid working arrangements are available.
 
In this role you will have the opportunity to:

 

Data Analytics
o    Identify trends, anomalies and actionable insights to support strategic business objectives.
o    Use predictive modelling and advanced analytics to guide decision-making
o    Support firm strategic projects by pulling and interrogating data from various sources using sql, BI tools, python  
o    Leverage AI and generative AI to enhance data analysis capabilities, uncover deeper insights and drive innovation in reporting and decision making.


Business analysis
o    Work closely with stakeholders to understand data and reporting needs.
o    Translate business requirements into technical specifications
o    Support adhoc enquiries and analysis requests, after triaging issues with various functional reporting teams
o    Translate complex business questions into clear, actionable analytics solutions while collaborating with stakeholders to identify opportunities where data-driven insights can create tangible business value.


Visualisation
o    Develop and support intuitive BI dashboards and reports that enable self-service
o    Exceptional storytelling & communication using BI tools to clearly communicate complex ideas and extract relevant insights 
o    Contribute to increasing the data literacy of the firm by providing guided dashboards, documentation, and FAQs. Opportunity to run guided sessions with our data community on creating user-friendly visualisations or other data related topics.

 

More About You
 

  • Ideally 3 to 5 years' experience working within a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience, demonstrating a readiness to engage with all aspects of the role including managing and supporting queries and undertaking essential operational tasks as necessary 
  • Strong background in data analytics with experience in business analysis
  • Create automated and scalable solutions in BI tools
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications for the data engineering team
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate with non-data people and senior leaders
  • Exposure to working with big data, data modelling, data engineering
  • Methodical problem solving, logical and analytical thinking
  • Strong Proficiency in SQL for querying databases, extracting insights, and troubleshooting data discrepancies.
  • Data visualization
  • Exposure to ITIL practices (preferred)
  • Competent at balancing multiple priorities, ensuring high quality outcomes across deliverables
  • SQL, BI visualisation tools
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure data quality and accuracy with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Experience working within a professional services firm will be highly regarded but not mandatory.

 

Highly Desirable skills (not mandatory for the role)

 

  • Python
  • Exposure to machine learning models (AWS or Microsoft)
  • Experience scrapping publicly available data
