Your Role

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Senior Data & Analytics Platform

Administrator to join our collaborative Digital team. In this role, you will be responsible for the configuration, administration, and optimisation of the firm’s data and analytics platforms, ensuring they are secure, performant, and scalable as the firm expands its use of data, reporting, and AI.

 

This role sits within the Digital team and provides the technical depth and hands-on expertise required to maintain, optimise and evolve the Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric environments, in partnership with the firm’s Data Analytics and Insights team, Data Engineering, IT Applications and Cloud & Infrastructure. This role is available in our Sydney office with hybrid working arrangements available.

 

Responsibilities of your role include but are not limited to:

 

Data Platform Ownership & Configuration

 

  • Administer, configure and optimise Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric platforms, including capacity management, workspace governance and provisioning, gateway configuration, and tenant settings.
  • Manage role-based access control (RBAC), permissions, and data gateway connectivity across on-prem, Azure, and AWS environments.
  • Implement and maintain Fabric components such as Dataflows, Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Synapse integration to enable and support the Data Analytics and Insights capability.
  • Configure and enable new Fabric and Power BI features in accordance with IT change control and security policies.
  • Monthly software updates

 

Deployment, Version Control & Release Management

 

  • Build and maintain deployment pipelines (CI/CD) for Power BI and Fabric assets, integrating with Git (Azure DevOps or GitHub).
  • Manage branching strategies (feature, release, hotfix), pull requests, merge conflict resolution, and automated deployment workflows.
  • Enforce versioning and release standards, ensuring consistent promotion of content across development, test, and production environments.
  • Maintain deployment documentation and configuration baselines for audit and recovery.

 

Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Administration

 

  • Monitor Fabric and Power BI capacities, dataset refreshes, and workspace health using Fabric monitoring tools, APIs, and PowerShell.
  • Diagnose and resolve refresh failures, performance bottlenecks, and capacity spikes, performing root-cause analysis and remediation.
  • Implement automated monitoring and auditing scripts for capacity usage, workspace provisioning, and governance reporting.
  • Apply incident management procedures, ensuring service continuity and documented resolution of technical issues.
  • Liaise with Microsoft and third-party vendors to resolve platform or capacity-related issues.

 

Performance Tuning & Validation

 

  • Conduct performance tuning for datasets, reports, and semantic models using DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, and Performance Analyzer.
  • Perform final review of self-service data models to validate performance, data accuracy, and adherence to platform standards.
  • Optimise data refresh schedules and query performance to reduce capacity consumption and improve user experience.

 

Data Integration & Orchestration

 

  • Develop and maintain data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Dataflows and Azure Databricks (SQL, PySpark).
  • Integrate Fabric, Power BI, and Databricks endpoints to enable live analytics and support for data science workloads.
  • Ensure secure and reliable data connectivity between hybrid sources across Azure, AWS, and on-prem environments.

 

Cross Team Collaboration & Service Excellence

 

  • Foster strong relationships with Data Analytics & Insights team, IT Applications, and Data engineering to ensure stability of Data platforms and maximise value. 
  • Build a strong bridge between Data Engineering, IT Applications, and Security teams to uphold high standards of service delivery and platform reliability. 
  • Ensure alignment to firm policies, procurement, and development guidelines; manage vendor/partner relationships where relevant. 

 

More About You

 

We welcome applications from professionals who possess:

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in Data & Analytics roles, with hands-on technical delivery and thought leadership. 
  • Expert in configuring and ensuring stability of Power BI environments (Desktop, Service, Admin/Tenant)
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Delta, Data Factory pipelines, notebooks, Spark/PySpark) with strong understanding of Azure data services. 
  • Relevant Azure and Fabric certifications is nice to have (DP700, DP600, PL300 etc). 
  • Strong experience with cloud-based Data Warehouse and Data Lake environments (Azure/AWS/GCP). 
  • Proficient in T-SQL, Python and PySpark for data transformation, orchestration and automation. 
  • Skilled in implementing Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines for BI and data assets using Azure DevOps or GitHub. 
  • Solid background in data architecture, governance and solution design, including medallion architecture, reusable data products and security/privacy by design. 
  • Exposure to AI and machine learning concepts, including LLMs (OpenAI, Bedrock), Azure AI Foundry
