The Role

 

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Commercial Finance Consultant for an opportunity based in our Sydney office with hybrid working arrangements available. In this role, you will be working with the Commercial Finance team and stakeholders to understand and drive MinterEllison's business performance and key drivers. With a keen focus on analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning, you will provide critical insights that drive effective decision-making at all levels. Your leadership in financial modelling, budgeting, and performance analysis will contribute to MinterEllison's success and growth.

 

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Provide proactive, analytical, client focused reporting support through delivery of reports and investigation, diagnosis and rectification of issues
  • Oversight of key management reporting processes including administration of individual targets used to support performance measures across the Firm
  • Support the Commercial Finance team across the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes. Analyse and interpret financial results, comparing actual performance to forecasts and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Provide management reporting support to Partners across the Firm and own relationships with key stakeholders to drive business strategy
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis to explain deviations between actual results and forecasts/budgets
  • Provide insightful explanations of financial performance to senior finance and relevant stakeholders
  • Own the creation of, and look for ways to improve, monthly management reporting requirements
  • Support key operational finance initiatives on Billing, WIP management, cash collection and including key month-end processes
  • Communicate financial concepts in a clear and understandable manner for legal professionals and lay audiences

 

More About You

 

We welcome applications from candidates who have demonstratable experience in:

 

  • Minimum of 4 years in a management reporting or business analyst role
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce and part way through or completed professional qualifications e.g. CPA/CA
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and actionable financial advice to internal clients, addressing their concerns and inquiries
  • High level of communication, numerical and analytical skills
  • Advanced excel skills, well-developed Outlook, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience in Jedox, Access/ SQL, Power BI and Elite is desirable.
  • Exposure to professional services culture would be advantageous
