The Role
Our national Client & Market Growth team is a high performing, critical component of the firm and essential to MinterEllison's success. The team advises on the full spectrum of business development and marketing activities to ensure the success of our business and that of our clients. Our Industry-focused Senior Market Growth Managers drive the business development and marketing strategy for our industry groups, to execute profitable growth opportunities and leading market positions. This is achieved through the application of market insight, business development, relationship building and brand enhancing skills.
We currently have a 12 month fixed-term contract available for an experienced Senior Market Growth Manager to support our Infrastructure and Real Estate team. This role is focused on taking a cross-business approach to implement the firm's industry and client strategy, aligned with our overall firm priorities. You will work closely with the Industry Lead Partner and Industry Leadership Team as well as partners, lawyers and peers from across the firm to set strategy and targets and prioritise execution. This role is available in our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office with hybrid working arrangements available.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop and execute the industry strategic plan, in alignment with firm strategy and in collaboration with key partners and the broader CMG team to unlock profitable growth for our business and our clients.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Industry Leader, a community of industry partners, consultants and lawyers (Industry Leadership Team), and the CMG team - connecting people from across the business and demonstrating leadership and direction by bringing teams together to deliver Industry priorities.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) with presence in and deep understanding of the industry, including key matters and deals and how they are initiated, stakeholders and influencers, industry players/issues, competitor landscape, our client footprint and market position.
- Coaching partners and lawyers with strategic BD advice, recognised as a trusted advisor.
- Understand the Industry client portfolio and be the 'centre of information' by maintaining knowledge of our clients' business (and their people) and applying that knowledge to pursuits, proposals and planning.
- As industry centre of information/SME, leading pitches and collaborating with CMG Business Unit (BU) colleagues to apply those industry insights to bids where they are the SME.
- Drive client listening to ensure client intelligence is maintained, relationships are nurtured and service excellence is upheld. Foster a sharing culture by sharing client insights widely and powerfully.
- Identify opportunities across BUs and priority areas, clients and geographies and support the formation of cross-BU teams to pursue opportunities and strengthen pipeline in an integrated and coherent fashion.
- Qualify and be responsible for the development of high-quality client-facing materials and precedents with compelling value propositions, working alongside our Centre of Excellence and Major Proposals team.
- Play a lead or supporting role on industry related projects and solution development to further develop MinterEllison's market positioning.
- Apply a commercial lens to industry and client development by understanding the levers of profitability and reporting on financial performance to enhance decision making. Manage the industry budget in a transparent, cost-effective manner and within budget.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in marketing, business, or a related discipline
- 7+ years' experience in business development, or equivalent work experience. Experience in a professional services environment will be well regarded
- Proven ability in strategic planning and client account management to deliver commercial outcomes
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills with high attention to detail
- Collaborative and adaptable approach, nurturing relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the business
- Ability to manage competing and high profile tasks in a fast-paced environment working within tight timeframes and needing to grasp complex concepts quickly
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills with senior stakeholders nationally
- Identify new business opportunities as a result of industry/client insights, research and analysis and competitor trends
- Adaptive and actively works to get the best out of teams
- Team-player, working with, mentoring and connecting with people at all levels.
- Delegate effectively and provide clear instructions while behaving in a manner that inspires others to want to work with you
- Proactive, self-motivated and flexible in responding to changing work priorities, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrate flexibility, resilience, problem solving and an outcomes focus, able to tackle complex issues, challenging own and others' thinking
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Co-pilot and other AI tools
